Gamasutra is reporting that the annual European trade show, the Leipzig Games Convention, is no more. Held annually in Germany, Leipzig was the center stage for the European video games market. Taking the place of Leipzig is GamesCon, which is a more casual-friendly trade show, focusing more on the mobile, browser and client games.

Leipzig CEO Wolfgang Marzin had this to say about the ending of Leipzig.

“We will be combining the real fair, that is, the offline event, with an online event. This means that millions of gamers are linked in on the internet and can take part in the Games Convention Online in Leipzig live. The Games Convention Online will host tens of thousands of visitors in Leipzig, and several million in the whole world.”
