Yet another piece of information from the rumor mill, this one regarding Killzone 2. Epix, a regular poster on NeoGaf had this to say about the upcoming PS3 thriller :

“It was the same level that we’ve seen for quite a while. Game runs very smooth and the lighting is amazing (as we all know). The rep made a comment about not having split screen co-op due to the amount of data that’s streamed off the disc. He mentioned that they’re currently working on online co-op to be patched in at a later time. The controls were a little slow for me but I’m sure it’s just a quick sensitivity adjustment in the menu. Game looks great, especially on the new line of Bravias that they were setup on.”

The important sentence in the post is about how co-op will be added after the games initial release. This is incredible news! A co-op segment will already add to the greatness the online has to offer!

Please note, this information has not been confirmed by either GG or Sony.

UPDATE!
PSU.com has posted an interview with Mathijs de Jonge of GG, and he has this to say about the possibility of co-op.

MdJ : Currently there are no plans for co-op in Killzone 2, technically it would be quite difficult to implement it for the story mode as for example the mission sections are loaded in seamlessly – no loading screens , and that would cause issues with teleporting players. Even without co-op it’s still a big game and gamers will have plenty to sink their teeth into.

So there you have it, co-op is currently NOT being planned for KZ 2, at least for now.
