Naughty Dog Currently Hiring

Even in the midst of an economic downturn, Naughty Dog, developers of the highly anticipated PS3 exclusive, Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves, has posted on their twitter that they are currently hiring. More specifically, a “Technical Environment Artist”.

Going to their website, it seems like a plethora of positions are available. Ranging from Gameplay Programmer to a Senior Rigger.

Call of Duty: World At War DLC Sells 1 Million Copies

Kotaku is reporting that the recently released Call of Duty : World at War DLC has sold 1 million copies. Hitting the PSN and Xbox 360 March 19th, the pack included 4 new online levels. Within a 3 day span, players spent a nice $10 million on the content.

No word yet if this will encourage Treyarch to make more DLC.

PS2 Price Cut

After all the hype and drama, it seems today’s ‘Big Surprise’ just happened to be a price cut for the aging PS2. All is well and good though, as the PS2 is getting a price reduction, cut to $99.

Naughty Dog Thinking About Uncharted 2 Collector’s Edition

If you didn’t see any of the new media about Uncharted 2 from last week’s GDC, do yourself a favor, and go find it. The game looks gorgeous. If the pure awesomeness of the title didn’t grab your attention, maybe this will. Developers Naughty Dog, via their twitter, have posed the question:

Been discussing the potential of a Collector’s Edition for Uncharted 2 — Do you want a CE? What would you want in it?

Other than that, there was no official word from Sony.

Sony: “We Do Not Have Plans For A PS3 Price Drop”

Rumors regarding Sony’s highly anticipated ‘Big announcement’ tomorrow have been circulating the internet like wildfire these days. Many speculated that it dealt with a PS3 price drop. Well, it looks like you can stop thinking that. Sony has denied any price drop announcement tomorrow.

“As we have stated previously, we do not have plans for a PS3 price drop, and any rumors to that effect are false and are the result of speculation.

“SCEA remains focused on the long-term momentum of PS3. With the industry’s best software lineup this year, combined with our most aggressive marketing campaign to date, we remain confident in our approach and the value we’re delivering with PS3.”

Sony May Pursue ‘Cloud Gaming’ Method

Kotaku is reporting that SCEJ has recently filed a trademark for, “PS Cloud”. Within the trademark, it states, “entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line video game that users may access through the internet.”

Whether or not this is Sony’s response to the hotly-discussed OnLive service is yet to be known. Perhaps this will not even hit the market, as many trademarks are never fully seen through.

This Weeks Upcoming Releases

This week is pretty dry, for all three Playstation platforms. Unless you are interested in a WWII flight sim, your best bet is to wait for next week, when The Godfather II and the Chronicles of Riddick game release.

Join The ECA, Get A Discount

Ever thought about joining the Entertainment Consumers Association, or better known as the ECA? Giving an interview during GDC, ECA president Hal Halpin dropped the bomb on a great deal. Join the ECA, which is a 1 time $20 membership fee, and get 10% of all games on Amazon! If you buy a lot of games through Amazon, you should seriously consider this!

Even if you don’t order anything through Amazon, it is still a good idea; as the ECA is a strong advocate for gamers.

Dead Rising 2 Aiming for 6,000 Enemies On Screen

We all knew that the original Dead Rising had epic mall battles with hordes of zombies. Well, it seems that the sequel, Dead Rising 2 is upping the ante…by a lot.

Speaking at GDC, Izmeth Siddeek, from Blue Castle Games, said that :

“[We Are] preparing to have as many as 6000 characters on the screen”.
